Our Story
Port Arthur Villas has welcomed travellers from around the world since 1988. Established by a local family, the property has long been a place for visitors to stay, explore and experience the Tasman Peninsula.
In 2025, the property was thoughtfully acquired by a Sri Lankan, Sydney based surgeon, who has spent many years in Tasmania with his wife and family. With a strong personal connection to the region, the intention has always been to honour what already exists, while gently evolving the site into something new. The Amadiya name, now part of the property’s next chapter, is drawn from the names of his two daughters, Amandi and Diyaa, reflecting the importance of family and the values that sit behind the vision.
A key part of this has been keeping the same team on the ground. Their knowledge of Port Arthur, along with the care they bring to the property each day, continues to shape the guest experience.
Now part of the Amadiya brand
The property is being refreshed with a new vision. Amadiya brings together a collection of accommodation experiences across Tasmania, New South Wales and Sri Lanka, each inspired by the warmth and hospitality of Sri Lankan living.
At Amadiya Port Arthur Villas, this is expressed through subtle touches and a considered approach to how the space feels. It is not about changing what is here, but enhancing it, creating a stay that feels calm, welcoming and easy to enjoy.
An Extension of Vélo Wines
The owners also operate Vélo Wines in the north of Tasmania, and over time, elements of that offering will be introduced at Amadiya Port Arthur Villas. This includes plans for a simple on site cellar door, creating another way for guests to experience the region during their stay.
Experience Amadiya
Above all, Amadiya is about connection. Whether that is time spent with family and friends, or simple moments shared with others along the way. We invite you to enjoy the space, the surroundings and the feeling of being here, in your own way.
